Bus Driver

Thompson Construction Group is currently looking for a Bus Driver responsible for operating a 44 Passenger Coach Bus for the transportation of construction personnel in and around our Fort McMurray operations area.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Operating Coach Bus, moving personnel to and from various projects in Ft McMurray and surrounding area.
  • Operating Pickup Truck, moving personnel to and from various projects in Ft McMurray and surrounding area.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance inspections and safety checks to proactively identify any potential mechanical issues and advise the Supervisor.
  • Keep Bus/Truck in a clean and professional condition at all times.
  • Complete accurate daily pre-inspections and post-inspections regulatory logs, Field Level Hazard Assessment sheets for all worksites, transportation timesheets and submit to the Supervisor.
  • Behave in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves, their co-workers and others on the work sites.
  • Attend and participate in toolbox and safety meetings as scheduled.
  • Report unsafe work, unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries and near misses to supervisor and participate in the investigative process.
  • Comply with established company and client policies and procedures and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required.
  • Assist other employees when required.


  • Minimum 2 years’ experience driving Bus.
  • Must have Valid Class 1 or 2 driver’s license (candidate to provide a current drivers’ abstract).
  • Must be able to drive standard transmission.
  • Active Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certification.
  • Ability to identify and describe mechanical issues on the Bus.
  • Self-motivated and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic with demonstrated dedication and reliability.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Must be able to work as a member of a greater team.
  • Willingness to work in the Ft McMurray area and live in remote camps, working a rotational schedule.
  • CSTS/OSSA Regional or BSO Certification or ESC CSO certification.
  • Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test.
